Open Your Bag Wide, Take Much from God

Martin Luther

To be proud of the gift of another is a fine arrogance. In this respect you cannot be too arrogant. The Lord likes to have  you make much of your Christian brotherhood. Be modest and shy about your own works; but when God's promise is concerned, you should have no modesty. On the contrary, you should dare to have high expectations and confidently to await the offer of Christ. Whatever you do, do not run away; but hold your bag open, and be sure to take much from Him.
