Christ Suffered for You

This is the article of justification: to believe that Christ died for us, as Paul says: Christ was made a curse for us (Gal. 3:13). For it is not enough to know that Christ suffered, but, as he says here, we must also believe that He bore our sicknesses, that He did not suffer for Himself nor for His sins but for us,  that He bore the sicknesses and assumed the sorrows which we should have endured. He who understands this passage aright holds the gist of Christianity.
